I have that problem too, if I don't tan all year around, during tanning season, the first month I will have white shoulders. This year I did do something different, I sat on the edge of the tanning bed with the top rested on my shoulders for about the first five minutes, then layed in the bed for the rest of my time. I don't know if that is worth giving up a little time if you get memberships, I have a bed at home so it does not count against my minutes. Or when you first start tanning let them know what you are doing, sit on a towel to get your shoulders tanned and then do your time laying in the bed. But do not do extra time than you should laying in the bed, we don't want to burn, we want a healthy and natural looking tan. I get asked if I work outside often because I tan to get a natural looking tan, in the winter if I keep it all year around people know I use a tanning bed during the tanning season I let people think what they want. My license plate frame gives it away though, it says "I'd rather be TANNING".

Try a Stand up =) by: Amy N
have you tryed using a stand-up bed? those are designed for evening out "hard-to-tan" parts of the body. for me its my lower back. But if I stand up my color evens out after two sessions in a stand-up. You should try that!!

Tanning your shoulders by: Anonymous
It is also good if half way through your tan, you move down the bed, and put your arms comfortably over your head. This will allow for your shoulders to get colour as well as prevent the white lines down your sides.
