Yes, the grid is supposed to be on the top. You will actually get more (small %) out of the bulbs
behind the grid than the acrylic since the acrylic can get 'cloudy'. If yours is, replace it; small price for big return. Fresh bulbs are also a good idea for small price & big return.

I have one. I also had two tanning canopies that also had the metal rack.
