Spray Tanning: Most Common Questions

A quality spray tanning booth or self applied tanning spray is the only way to go. A cheap option can result in an orange or streaky tan.

How long does a spray tan last?

It can last anywhere from 3 days to 10 days depending on how much you exfoliate, and what activities you engage in. For example, if you have really dry skin, your session will only last for 3-4 days and it may be splotchy.

Using a quality exfoliate prior to your tanning session, and applying a quality hydrating lotion is highly recommended.

How long to shower after a spray (Mystic) tan?

You should wait 6 hours. Sometimes 4 is enough depending on how fast it dries. To play it safe, wait 6 - 8 hours.

How often can I do a spray?

You can do it as much as you want, but more then twice a week is really not necessary.

How to remove spray/self tanning solution from hands?

The best way to spray/self tanning solution from your hands is to shower, wash yourself as usual, and then try using baking soda and water. Read the directions on your spray bottle or cream.

The manufacturer may have a spray tan remover for sale as well. Call a salon or look on Ebay for Mystic Spray Tan Touch Up spray.

How to prepare?

There are several things to consider before your session. The more important ones are to use an exfoliate before your session,and to use lotion after your session (but not before). Click here for specific tips, and what you need to know about it.

What happens if I shower too soon? It will either wash away altogether, but most likely it will streak and beblotchy. A touch up spray is highly recommended to extend and touch up any light spots.

How to remove mistakes? See the answers to the question How to remove it (tanning solution/spray) from hands'. The other tanning tip is to use a touch up spray and/or jump into tanning bed for a few sessions to help even out and make your tan look nice (high pressure beds are best).
