Are Sarongs Hip?

Sarongs are basically a sheet of fabric,
which is usually wrapped around ones waist. They are commonly worn as a skirt in southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands. But Indonesia and Malaysia are the main hot spots for these simple but, surprisingly stylish bits of fabric.

They are made up of a fabric which is a bright color, and patterns are printed on it. The most common patterns are animals, plants, geomtic patterns, and even tie die.

A sarong can even be used as decorations on your wall (because it's basically a large sheet of fabric).

Here in North America, they are often used to cover up swimwear, for before and after hitting the beach. The fabric used in a North American sarong is usually light, like rayon. Although they are not flooding the beaches, they are quite hip. But more importantly, they are comfortable and, even sexy!

sarongs A sarong may or may not come with ties, which are used to help the wearer hold it to his or her body. You don't want it to fall off while you are moving! If yours does not have a tie, you can use a clothes pin, or you can tuck the fabric under itself to hold it upon your body. There are several ways to tie or wrap the fabric: Here's how. It's not uncommon to use a belt.

If you are considering getting one, or several of these wonderful pieces of fabric for the beach, casual gatherings on hot days, or simply to have something to wip on in a hurry on a hot day, you can't go wrong. You might even start a new trend in your area!

I remember putting one one when we traveled to Costa Rica, and I loved it. It was easy to throw on over my bathing suit, it looked good, and I was extremely comfortable. You will love it too!
