Do you have to shower before tanning?

Do you have to shower prior to getting in the tanning bed for best results? I use some unpleasant smelling tingle lotions and hate to shower before and after tanning. I would rather shower after tanning or find out what a good smelling lotion is, so i could shower before tanning and not have to shower after tanning.Please help me find the correct answer and help me find a great fragrance tanning lotion. Thanks!!!
