Guide To Commercial Tanning Beds...

Here's why commercial tanning beds are flooding the market. Many people long for the perfect tan, but cannot fit time at the

beach into their busy schedules.

Others have discovered that tanning salons, or home tanning beds, provide a great way to build and maintain a healthy tan even in the dead of winter.

Tanning salons have sprung up all over the country, many of them attached to full service spas or beauty salons.

All of these establishments rely on durable equipment designed to serve many customers before needing maintenance or new bulbs. These commercial tanning beds are also easy to clean, so that proper hygiene can be maintained between each customer's tanning sessions.

Commercial tanning beds come in several different styles. Probably the most common is the horizontal tanning bed. These are generally six to seven feet long and have a lid that closes over a recumbent tanner. The tanner lies on a glass or plastic surface and is surrounded by powerful tanning lamps, and there is often a small area of additional lights placed at face level to give a deep tan on the face.

While these beds have been the most widely used in the industry, many tanners dislike having to lay on a surface that has been used by others. Another drawback is that people with claustrophobia often dislike the feeling of being enclosed.

An Alternative...

A great alternative to commercial tanning beds are tanning booths. Because they stand vertically, tanning booths take up less floor space. Tanning booths are also easier top clean, since the tanner never has to touch the sides of the booth.

The increased size of the booth makes it better for people who do not enjoy tight spaces. The increase in size also allows more lamps to be installed, which in turn decreases the time required for each session.

Some manufacturers are now producing tanning

beds that can be used either horizontally or as tanning booths. These new designs offer spacious comfort and thanks to higher concentrations of powerful lamps, additionally clear panels to the outside world. This helps to alleviate feelings of claustrophobia.

Another technological advance in commercial tanning beds has occurred in cooling fans. It is natural for heat to build up in a small space bombarded with ultraviolet light, but the commercial tanning beds today do a much better job at dissipating this heat than previous models. Less heat helps to increase the comfort of the tanner, and makes for a cleaner and healthier tanning bed or booth.
